BLACK & TRANS LIVES

Leading up to Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31, join SnapCo in Trans Week of Visibility and Action(TWOVA) 2024, a week-long digital mobilization dedicated to elevating and protecting the rights of the transgender community.  Whether you're looking to become a member, sign crucial petitions, attend transformative events, or contribute financially, your involvement plays a crucial role in advancing our mission for trans justice and liberation.

1. CELEBRATE SNAPCO'S 11 YEAR BIRTHDAY!

"SnapCo Forever" is a call to celebrate our wins and to invest a legacy that transcends time. The evening will be a "One of One" experience highlighting Atlanta's Black, Trans & Queer culture of art, activism, and excellence. By attending and giving, you will empower the next generation of organizers to transform, protect, and amplify the voice of the Snap4Freedom movement. Secure your seat now!

2. ATTEND THE STATE OF TRANS ATLANTA

Join us for the State of Trans Atlanta at City Hall on March 28! Together we will explore the intersection of culture, politics, and the trans experience in Georgia. The State of Trans Atlanta is being hosted by Rashad German and Toni-Michelle Williams. This event is organized by trans led organizations Project H.I.M and Solutions Not Punishment Collaborative (SnapCo). This event is being sponosored by: HRC (Atlanta Chapter), Georgia Equality, the National Center for Civil and Human Rights and Gilead Sciences.

3. SIGN THE PETITION TO STOP HB1104

HB 1104, is a bill that fundamentally threatens the rights of transgender youth in Georgia. Initially designed to support student athletes, this legislation has been drastically altered to exclude transgender students from participating in sports teams that reflect their gender identity and from using the facilities where they feel safe.We can't not standby and watch this happen. It's more than a bill; The safety of our youth is at stake. Will you stand up for trans youth? Sign the petition to STOP #HB1104

4. TAKE THE PLEDGE

Take the pledge to stand with and protect Black and Trans lives, committing to not just a moment, but a daily practice of transformation and allyship. This pledge is your promise to actively challenge biases, educate yourself and others, and advocate for systemic change. It's about transforming personal intentions into collective action that uplifts and supports the most vulnerable in our community, every single day.

5. BECOME A MEMBER

Becoming a member of SnapCo is a powerful step towards advocating for and protecting Black and Trans lives. As a member, you'll join a dedicated community of activists and allies, working together to combat systemic injustice.

6. INVEST IN BLACK + TRANS FUTURES

We can do more than simply feel bad when we see Black trans people killed by hateful individuals or the state. We can invest our time, energy, and money into directly closing the gaps in employment, housing, and health care that heighten people’s risk of violence and death. If you support our work to protect black and trans people, please make a donation today.

7. READ "DEEPER THAN VISIBILITY"

Trans and queer communities are under attack from all sides of the globe. The solutions originate from the people mostly impacted by the issue. In DTV, SnapCo shares historical timelines of policing, reformist and abolitionist efforts in Atlanta. We center Black voices trans voices, queer voices, and offer policy recommendations for a safer Atlanta.
