Inauguration Day Statement

"Freedom only comes through persistent revolt, through persistent agitation, through persistently rising up against the system of evil.” - Martin Luther King Jr.

Today, as we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we are also confronted with the stark reality of Donald Trump’s inauguration. This is not just a transition of power—it is a moment that tests our resolve as we face an administration and Congress committed to policies that target Black lives, transgender rights, and the safety of marginalized communities.

Trump’s campaign promises to roll back protections for transgender students, dismantle diversity training programs, and advance an anti-Black and anti-trans agenda have now come to fruition. With Republicans dominating Congress, we are bracing for an onslaught of legislation aimed at targeting gender-affirming care, criminalizing providers who support trans youth, and redefining Title IX to erase protections for our communities.

And it has already begun. In just the past week, multiple states have introduced and advanced bills attacking transgender rights—from banning trans youth from participating in sports to restricting access to life-saving care. These threats are real and immediate, but they are not insurmountable.

We know this feels terrifying. Many of us are experiencing a mix of fear, anger, and uncertainty. At SnapCo, we are here to remind you: we have been preparing for this moment.

In November, we partnered with Trans Social to host a passport clinic, ensuring our community could secure gender-affirming IDs before policies could strip away that possibility. Last year, we stood on the frontlines, defeating wave after wave of anti-trans legislation introduced in Georgia.

SnapCo is clear about the dangers ahead—and we are committed to defending our communities with every resource available. Now, we need you. SnapCo needs you to join us as we mobilize against an anti-trans and anti-Black agenda and demand our freedom. We’ve done this before, and we will do it again—but not without you.

Let us honor the legacy of those who came before us by taking the fight into our hands, standing shoulder to shoulder, and demanding the freedom that has always been our birthright.

With love and power,
SnapCo Team
